1 month to go until Zambia

This time next month I will have met up with the rest of my team at the airport and we will be preparing to board our flight to Zambia.  I cannot believe how quickly it has come around, but it is definitely time to start getting things together and carry on preparing for my trip. I have started to take time to reflect upon my journey to South Africa from two years ago by reading the journal I kept during the time we were out there and looking back at photographs. It has been a good opportunity to look back at all the memories made during the trip and remembering the people, communities and their stories we met whilst there. It has made me really exited to be going back and to meet more of these amazing people and support the work of Hands at Work. 10K Run = COMPLETE!

I DID IT!!! I'm so happy to say that on Saturday 1st July 2017, I completed my first (and most probably last!) 10K run. If you have read the previous blog posts, you will have known that running is most definitely not my forte and it has been difficult training for it. However, it had to be a challenge, and every single step reflected that.  Throughout the race, I kept reminding myself of the struggles that vulnerable families out in Africa face every single day, including young, vulnerable children having to walk miles for water and an education, and for those having to sacrifice their learning to go and work to help provide for their families. They were my motivation when things started to get tough, as well as the work and support that Hands at Work in Africa provide for these vulnerable people. So, 4 blisters, a few days of sore thigh muscles and 1 hour, 11 minutes and 47 seconds worth of running later it is complete!  Thank you to EVERYONE who suppor...
