Day 12 - Thursday 24th August 2017

Thursday morning was a difficult start after only having 4 hours sleep! We all got up at 7am and quickly got ourselves ready to leave for the community. There was a little confusion between the team and the driver as to what time we were due to leave as we thought it was 8am and he thought it was 9am - oh well, African time!
We had a good worship sing song on the bus on the way there sharing many songs from both the UK and Zambia. Once we arrived I sat with a few children on the ground and we practiced writing our names on the floor and also drew lots of pictures of animals - I think my drawing leaves a lot to be desired for.
We then went into the church with the Care Workers to share worship and wash their feet. It was a good chance to let the Care Workers relax and spend time with one another whilst having their feet washed, nails painted and a massage. It was so humbling that we were able to do this as they rarely take time for themselves.
As more and more children arrived to the Care Point we all sat down together to share a story. Becky told the story of David and Goliath and both the team and the children acted it out! We also sang our favourite song - Hallelu, Hallelu!!
We spent time colouring in sheets, playing hand games and playing football with the children whilst the food was being prepared.
Lunch was served and today it was nshima, cabbage and soy chicken - a new experience but all the same a good one!
All of a sudden we were dragged into the church hall where the local choir were preparing for a concert this Saturday. When we went in, it was like a huge party with singing and amazing African dancing!!! It was one of my highlights of the day. One of the church leaders also showed me round and I later found out she was the midwife for community. We shared many stories and whilst she has delivered 350 babies, my 28 seemed quite lame!
Then the difficult bit came, it was time to say goodbye. Tears were shed and word of encouragement were given with the knowledge that we will be praying for them when we return home to the UK. The bus journey back was very quiet.
We we arrived back to Kachele we had our last team brief and shared our feelings about the trip as a whole. It was then time for our final meal together, and the lovely cook had prepared for us a Cottage Pie because she wanted us to have a home comfort and how amazing it was!!! The food out here has been soooo good and I am going to miss it lots!

We spent our final evening all together and then headed to bed for the last time.
