Day 5 - Thursday 17th August 2017

Today was another 7am start with toast for breakfast to give us all the energy we could get! By 8am Becky and Brenda were off to the shops to stock up the groceries for the the weekend and to get some cooking ingredients for the task later today.
We headed down to the School House of fun and games with the children, however today felt a lot warmer than the other days!
As per usual, we began the day with worship followed by our story for the day which was Daniel and the Lions. The children acted out the story, which was narrated by Emma, with one child playing Daniel and 4 other children being really scary lions! The children then had a memory task to complete to remember the verse of the day:
"Our Lord is kind. He is caring and he saves us." Psalm 40:10.
Today's craft was to create a lion mask using a paper plate, orange wool, coloured paper and elastic. The children looked amazing when they were all wearing their masks and giving the loudest ROAR they could find!
Our bonus activity today was to create butter biscuits and decorate them in the afternoon - never have I seen children take so much time and precision using hundreds and thousands, with most of them ending up on the biscuit and not on the table or floor! This morning was super busy as we also made loom bands, and we had a competition to see who had the most colourful bracelet.
Then lunch was served and it was lovely! Today the cooks made rice and sauce and served it was the most tender beef steaks, there were empty plates and full stomachs all round!
The afternoon was upon us and this only meant one thing..........A WATER FIGHT!!!!
I have never had so much fun having water balloons and cold cups of water thrown over me! And to see the children smile and have so much fun was the highlight of camp so far! The best thing about having a water fight at 2pm in Zambia is that you dry off pretty quickly in the warm sun!
Today's camp ended with a few more worship songs and playing football and catch with the children out in the field.
We headed back to the house swiftly to quickly tidy up before the rest of the Hands family in Zambia gathered at ours for a Bring and Share dinner - there was so much food and it was all delicious.
Whilst the rest of the team headed down to the School House to meet the children to watch a movie, I stayed at the house and spoke with Dawson (our host) about my future with Hands at Work and thinking about what God is calling me to do with this amazing charity. It has given me a huge amount to think about, but I am so grateful to Hands for having people like Dawson who take the time to disciple you and nourish your faith, helping you find your own journey.
Once the team returned we enjoyed the evening sitting together in darkness as there was a power cut for a couple of hours, and just as we were heading to bed it came back on again - typical!
Today has been a challenging day for myself personally as I have had to come to face with a lot of difficult questions that there aren't answers to right at this moment. However, it has only strengthened my faith and my trust in my Lord.

Thank you to everyone who has taken time to read some of my blog, and it is so lovely to start off the next day reading your comments from back home!
